Summary
The Land Survey Manager manages and coordinates surveys and investigations of land surfaces and ensures compliance with all applicable regulations and requirements including boundary calculations and legal issues. The manager also ensures that projects are completed on time and within budget. This position manages survey staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs regarding projects, tasks, and operations.
Serves as the in-house expert for surveying and assists other design group managers and their staff as necessary. A Registered Land Surveyor (RLS) license is required for this position.
è Essential Functions
- Responsible for taking job orders, survey crew planning and scheduling, safety compliance, quality of work, and project profitability.
- Responsible for ensuring each project is completed on time and within budget.
- Develop new business.
- Coordinates the flow of information from field crew to computations to CADD to engineers to technicians to the client.
- Responsible for directing computations, performing computations solving computation problems, and preparation of worksheets for drafting and checking final results.
- Conducts and oversees courthouse research as necessary to support field crews.
- Routinely communicates with all office personnel and clients.
- Schedules projects and resources both in the field and office.
- Creates job work scopes, project estimates, and job proposals.
- Works with other departments to smoothly coordinate large multi-discipline projects.
- Stay current with projects of all types proposed in the area.
- Pursues new projects, clients, and markets.
- Stays abreast of new technology that can expand both current and future client bases.
- Provides QA/QC and peer review of products leaving the department.
- Performs other incidental and related duties as required and assigned.
- Serves as technical advisor to the organization.
- Represents the company as the prime technical contact on contracts and projects.
- Communicate with clients to identify the scope of engineering services required.
- Consult with Project Managers concerning unusual problems or developments.
- Perform monthly billing of clients for work completed.
- Act as project liaison between clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies.
- Assists with the preparation of proposals and/or presentations for potential jobs.
- Communicates with Principals, Project Managers, Design Group Leaders, CADD technicians, engineering technicians, surveying, government agencies, contractors, subcontractors, and administrative staff.
- Ensure proper survey equipment is available and in good condition.
- Enforces personal policies and procedures.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge.
è Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Leadership and supervisory skills.
- Excellent technical knowledge and business development experience.
- Valid Driver's License.
è Education and Experience
- BS in a related field or equivalent experience.
- RLS preferably in GA, SC, and NC.
- Minimum 5 years' experience as a surveyor, including 3+ years' experience supervising field crews.
